#### How to calculate kVA

There are a few ways to calculate kVA, below shows a couple of options:

• Calculate kVA from the known kW and Power Factor values.
• Calculate kVA from the known Volts and Amps values.

#### How to calculate kVA from Amps

To calculate kVA from Amps or Amps to kVA we can use the following formula:

SINGLE PHASE kVA from Amps

• kVA = Volts x Amps ÷ 1000

For example, if Volts = 300 and Amps = 15 then,

300 (V)  x 15 (A) ÷ 1000 = 4.5 kVA

THREE PHASE kVA from Amps

To calculate kVA from Amps three phase is a little more complicated, let the app do the math and download the kVA Calculator App.

#### How to calculate kW from KVA

To calculate kW from kVA we can use the following formula:

We calculate kW from the known kVA and Power Factor values.

• kW = kVA x Power Factor

Example: If kVA = 10 and Power Factor = 0.85 then

10 (kVA) x 0.85 (PF) = 8.5 kW

#### How to calculate Power Factor

To calculate Power Factor (PF) we need to to know the following parameters:

1. kW
2. kVA

The Power Factor calculation formula is:

• Power Factor = kW ÷ kVA

For example, if kW = 10 and kVA = 15 then,

10 (kW) ÷ 15 (kVA) = 0.667 Power Factor (rounded to three decimals)

#### How to convert kW to kVA

To convert kW to kVA or calculate kVA from kW we can use the following formula:

• kVA = kW ÷  Power Factor

For example, if kW = 120 and Power Factor = 0.64 then,

120 (kW)  ÷  0.64 (PF) = 187.5 kVA

#### How to convert Amps to kVA

To convert Amps to kVA we use the following formula.

Amps to kVA Single Phase

kVA ÷ Volts x 1000  = Amps

For example, if kVA = 65 and Volts = 230 then,

65 (kVA) ÷ 230 (V) x 1000 = 282.609 Amps
